MY AIM? A SHOOT YOU’LL ENJOY AND IMAGES YOU’LL LOVE
At ease. Relaxed. Comfortable.
Whether you’re coming to me for wedding photos, family portraits or business photography, that’s how I want you to feel during your session. Unless you make a living as a model, being in front of the camera isn’t something you do every day. So it doesn’t always feel natural. I totally understand that.
But, believe it or not, it doesn’t have to be an ordeal! And I truly believe that anyone can look good in a photograph.
A FUN, HASSLE-FREE EXPERIENCE
Before we meet, we’ll chat on the phone so you can get a sense of who I am and what I’m like. It’s also a chance for you to ask me questions, and talk through any concerns you might have. As well as taking the time to find out what you’re after, I’ll let you be yourself. And I’ll never coerce you into cheesy poses that make you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.
You’ll know exactly what to do, and won’t feel self-conscious. Because I’ll keep things positive and upbeat, and offer lots of encouragement and gentle direction.
I’ll keep in touch at all stages of the process, so you’ll always know what’s happening. And my pricing’s transparent, so you don’t have to worry about hidden extras.
After your session’s over, I can give you help with the end results if you need it. As well as digital files and prints, I have a range of framed products – including canvases, storyboard frames and albums – for you to choose from.
And if picking your images feels overwhelming (many of my clients tell me it does) I have a service that can help with that too.
CANDID AND TIMELESS PHOTOS THAT WON’T GO OUT OF STYLE
My skill lies in storytelling, and capturing real moments and emotions. (That’s why I’m passionate about documentary-style photography, and prefer using natural light.)
So if you’re looking for posed studio shots, I’m afraid I’m not the right photographer for you.
I’m a friendly Yorkshire girl who loves the outdoors – nature inspires me and informs my work. I live in Edinburgh with my husband Andy, my son Francis and our cat Mindy. Heading for the hills in our camper van is one of my favourite things to do.
I started my business in 2010 when Francis was 3, which seems like a long time ago now! I chose photography because I’m interested in people (in another life, I would have liked to be a psychologist). And, when my son came along, it became hugely important for me to capture him as he grew and I wanted to be able to do this for other families.
It’s rewarding to be able to do something that really moves people. I get pleasure from taking the photos my clients can’t take themselves, and creating beautiful images that they treasure.
And, because I’ve built up great relationships with lots of my clients, many of them choose to come back to me again and again.
I’ve used Rachel both for family portraits and for business profiles. I have recommended Rachel to NUMEROUS clients who have all been thrilled with her work. What I like about Rachel is the way that she captures “real life” – there’s no staged poses, fake smiles or bored children – she captures them in their perfect forms – playing, laughing and investigating. She’s got a natural gift.
What I also like about Rachel is she is one of the nicest people you will meet, there are no hard sales (which is vital when you are referring people on to know they’re not going to be pushed into a purchase) and she makes you feel at ease by talking about real life. I honestly think she’s one of the best photographers not only in Edinburgh but the UK.Tricia Murray
