Dom & Robyn’s intimate Edinburgh city wedding, a day full of surprises!
Dom and Robyn traveled all the way from Somerset to celebrate their wedding in Edinburgh, and what a day it was! Their celebration was intimate, relaxed, and full of personality, taking in no less than five incredible locations across the city. The schedule was a complete surprise to their guests, who were instructed to meet at the Dragonfly Bar in West Port and await further instructions—a hint of the playful and unconventional day ahead.
The morning began at a stylish West End Airbnb, where Dom and Robyn got ready and shared some quiet, intimate moments before the day truly kicked off. From there, we headed to Dragonfly for pre-ceremony cocktails, giving guests a chance to relax and mingle in a fun, casual atmosphere before the main event. Next, it was up to the City Chambers on the Royal Mile for the ceremony, held in the elegant European Room. The room’s classic architecture created the perfect backdrop for their vows. Every moment felt relaxed and genuine, with plenty of laughter and happy tears.
Following the ceremony, the celebrations continued with a lively stop at The Dome on George Street, where guests enjoyed another round of cocktails and a fun wedding quiz. The playful energy of the couple and their guests made for joyful, candid moments perfect for photography that truly tells the story of the day. Dinner was held at the Raeburn Hotel in Stockbridge, in a room beautifully styled by Robyn herself. Every detail reflected the couple’s personalities, creating a space that was as warm and welcoming as the day itself. It was the perfect ending to a celebration that was all about Dom and Robyn doing things their way, full of laughter, warmth, and authenticity.
Before the day, Dom and Robyn were hesitant about having a photographer. They worried it might feel intrusive or take over their intimate celebration. But after finding my portfolio, they felt confident that I could blend seamlessly into the background, capturing the spontaneous, unscripted moments that make a wedding truly memorable. As they said themselves:
“It was clear that she was an expert in blending into the background and capturing those special moments when you don’t know you’re being watched.”
Their Edinburgh wedding was a reminder that your day doesn’t have to follow the traditional script. With thoughtful planning, a sense of fun, and spaces that reflect who you are as a couple, your wedding can be truly unforgettable.
” Neither of us were very keen on having a photographer for our small wedding as we were concerned it’d take over and invade the day. Having found Rachel’s website and looked through her portfolio it was clear that she was an expert in blending into the background and capturing those special moments when you don’t know you’re being watched.
From the initial enquiry we were given all of the information we needed, and following a zoom call in the lead up to our special day we felt comfortable that Rachel had understood exactly what we wanted and how we wanted her to work with us. The results speak for themselves and we couldn’t be happier with the photos we have of our wedding day – we didn’t want any staged pictures and Rachel really blended into the background to get those moments that would have been so easy to miss. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a highly skilled photographer for their big day, especially if you’re looking for a more candid and natural style of pictures. “
