Studio 48
A fun brand shoot at Leith based art studio, Studio 48
I recently had the pleasure of photographing artist Sally Ann Johns’ bright and vibrant new space, Studio 48, located just off Newhaven Road in Leith. Having worked with Sally on her brand photography several times over the years, it was fantastic to bring her new bright, airy art studio to life.
Brand photography for creative spaces isn’t just about the location, it’s about communicating the personality, energy, and ethos of the space. For Studio 48, that meant highlighting the welcoming, colourful, and inspiring environment where artists of all ages come to learn, create, and explore their creativity. Every shot was designed to show both the space itself and the people who bring it to life, from Sally teaching a class to students engaged in painting, drawing, or craft activities.
Part of what makes a creative space like Studio 48 stand out are the little details, the beautiful hand-painted signage, the carefully arranged workspaces, and the colourful artworks that line the walls. Capturing these elements helps convey the personality and identity of the studio, letting potential students get a true feel for what the space is like before they step through the door.
Brand photography for creative businesses like Studio 48 is about telling the story visually. It’s about showing not just what the space looks like, but how it feels to be there, the inspiration, the learning, the fun, and the community. If you run a creative space, art studio, or workshop-based business in Edinburgh , investing in brand photography is a fantastic way to show off your environment, your classes, and your personality, just like I did for Studio 48.
With over 8 years of experience, Studio 48 offers a diverse range of art classes, workshops, and events for all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, there’s something for everyone, from drawing, painting, and craft courses to design and mixed media workshops. They also run art clubs for children aged six and up, as well as flexible evening classes and events for adults, making it a true hub for creativity in Leith.
