The Easton Family | Yellowcraig beach
A relaxed family session at Yellowcraig beach East Lothian.
Last month I met the Easton family at Yellowcraig beach for a relaxed autumn session. The forecast was typically unpredictable, but we managed to make the most of a dry spell before the heavens finally opened. When the rain arrived, we slipped into the woodland behind the dunes, somehow still almost completely dry and still holding onto some beautiful late season colour.
Yellowcraig is one of my favourite locations in East Lothian to photograph families. There’s so much variety packed into one space: sweeping dunes, wide open views across the beach, and beautiful woodland that offer the perfect bit of shelter from the elements.
This session was the kind I love most, unhurried and led by whatever caught the family’s attention. We stopped whenever something felt right: a ladybird encounter, some beautiful light in the dunes, or simply letting Eleanor run ahead with doggy Juno. Those small, unscripted moments often end up being the most meaningful, and this session was full of them. And for anyone wondering, yes dogs are always very welcome on family shoots. They’re part of the family, after all!
” We hugely enjoyed our photography experience with Rachel. She immediately made everyone feel relaxed when meeting for the shoot, had a clear understanding of the brief and brought her own style and ideas on how to execute it during our time with her. We never felt under pressure trying to capture the perfect shot or worry about the weather or light. That was reflected in the amazing photos that were captured, particularly of our daughter, that we absolutely treasure. I would highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a fabulous photographer. “
