Yasmin & Jack | Kippilaw House
A joyful, fun wedding at Kippilaw House
There are weddings that feel beautifully polished, and then there are weddings that feel like everyone has come together for one brilliant weekend of laughter, love, friends and family.
This was very much the latter.
Set amongst the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside, Kippilaw House provided the perfect backdrop for a wonderfully fun and personal wedding. From the moment guests arrived, there was a real sense that this wasn’t simply a wedding day, it was a celebration of family, heritage and two people bringing their worlds together.
One of the most magical parts of the day was the ceremony itself, conducted by https://chris-booth-ceremonies.earth/ Rather than taking place inside, the couple chose to exchange their vows beneath the magnificent branches of an ancient copper beech tree within the grounds of Kippilaw House. There was something incredibly special about standing beneath such an established and beautiful tree to begin a new chapter together. Its enormous canopy provided a natural setting for the ceremony, creating an atmosphere that felt intimate, romantic and completely connected to the surrounding countryside.
The best weddings aren’t necessarily the ones where everything goes exactly to plan. They’re the ones where the children are running around, cousins are catching up, parents are smiling from ear to ear, someone is laughing far too loudly during the speeches and there are countless little moments happening in between the official photographs.
This wedding had all of that.
There was a wonderful sense of togetherness throughout the day, with generations of the family coming together to celebrate. The atmosphere was relaxed, happy and completely genuine, the sort of celebration where you could see just how much everyone meant to one another
And then there was the music!
The celebrations were brought to life by the brilliant Dhol & Pipes, a renowned Glasgow based musical fusion act combining the unmistakable energy of traditional Punjabi dhol drums with the sound of Scottish bagpipes.
It was the perfect musical representation of the day itself, two traditions coming together to create something completely their own.
The powerful rhythm of the dhol drums alongside the distinctive sound of the pipes created an incredible atmosphere. It was energetic, celebratory and impossible not to dance to. For a wedding that brought together Scottish and Zanzibar heritage alongside family and friends from different backgrounds, the fusion of Punjabi dhol and Scottish pipes was the perfect choice.
It certainly made for a memorable entrance and set the tone for a day that was never going to be quiet!
What made this wedding at Kippilaw House so special wasn’t simply the beautiful surroundings or the magnificent ancient copper beech. It was the way the day brought people, families and cultures together. A beautiful Scottish Borders setting, an ancient copper beech, the rhythm of dhol drums, the sound of Highland pipes, the richness of Zanzibar heritage and a whole lot of fun. A truly unforgettable day.
